United Thank Offering (UTO) Spring is here and it’s time to think about Good Shepherd’s Spring Ingathering for the United Thank Offering on Mother’s Day, May 11. The UTO website states: “UTO began in 1883 when the women of the church took up a thank offering to support innovative mission and ministry in the Episcopal Church and Anglican Communion that the church budget could not cover. Today, UTO includes members of all ages and genders, and welcomes people regardless of church affiliation. UTO’s focus is still on promoting gratitude and supporting innovative projects that address compelling needs around the globe.” This year is the final year of the United Thank Offering’s grants focusing on areas of ministry based on Matthew 25:31-46. The 2025 grant focus is on water, based on Jesus’ words, “I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink.” UTO boxes and envelopes are located at the church entrances and in the pews. (If you write a check, please make it payable to Good Shepherd, and put UTO in the memo line.) Thank you for your consideration of this outreach ministry. Dottie Aikman UTO Coordinator T-Shirt orders needed ASAP We will be placing the shirt orders within the week. We have decided to change up the color to a solid light blue (see photo). The artwork will be the same as our existing shirts. The price for each shirt is $15, payable upon receipt. If you’re participating in the Strawberry Festival (in any way) it’s a great way to show that you support Good Shepherd. Please contact Elaine Richau at wegmom54@aol.com with your order request.  Strawberry Festival/Chicken BBQ Our fabulous annual Strawberry Festival/Chicken Barbeque and basket auction will take place on June 21st. We will need many volunteers (and diners) to make it a success. There will be an organizational meeting on Wednesday May 7th at 2PM in Jewett Hall. All are invited. Come see how you can help. If you’re unable to attend the meeting but would like to be involved, please see Pat Lalonde or Nancy Cich. If anyone presents themselves as representing ICE or any other organization of that type please call for Father Mike or Mother Elizabeth and do not invite them into any area of the parish not currently open. Vestry has voted to raise the price of a Columbarium niche from $350 to $500. Several parishioners have asked to reserve niches but have not paid for them. The price increase goes into effect April 1, 2025. We will honor the $350 price if you make payment arrangements prior to then. Please speak to Pat Lalonde for details. Keep saving your Dash’s receipts. They allow us to submit prior year receipts so any old receipts from 2023 are effectively expired going forward. For every $5,000 in receipts we submit, we earn $125. Even small purchases add up! Altar Flowers Altar flowers may be ordered for $100/pair in memoriam, in thanksgiving, or for any other desired occasion. Two or more people can also share the cost of flowers if desired. To order flowers, please send your flower request (colors, flower types) to Elaine Richau at Wegmom54@aol.com. Your dedication for the service leaflet should be sent to officegoodshep@gmail.com.
